Jubi CardioCare – Ask Your Cardiologist

A clinician-reviewed digital service providing non-urgent heart health information and support, designed to complement existing NHS care.

What is Ask Your Cardiologist?

Ask Your Cardiologist is a digital health support service that enables people with heart-related concerns to ask non-urgent questions and receive clinician-reviewed responses.

The service is designed to help users better understand their condition, test results, medications, and lifestyle advice between appointments, without replacing NHS services or clinician consultations.

Who is it for?

  • People living with heart conditions
  • Individuals with cardiovascular risk factors (e.g. blood pressure, cholesterol)
  • Patients waiting for, or between, cardiology appointments
  • Carers or family members supporting someone with a heart condition

How it works

  1. The user submits a non-urgent heart-related question via the platform
  2. The question is reviewed by a qualified clinician
  3. A clear, plain-language response is provided for information and support
  4. Where appropriate, users are guided to existing NHS services

What the service does not do

To ensure safety and clarity, Ask Your Cardiologist does not:

  • Diagnose medical conditions
  • Provide treatment or clinical management
  • Monitor health data or vital signs
  • Predict health outcomes
  • Replace GP, cardiology, or emergency services

Safety and escalation

This service is intended for non-urgent questions only.

If you experience symptoms such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Severe shortness of breath
  • Collapse or loss of consciousness
  • Sudden or worsening symptoms

You should seek urgent medical care immediately by contacting NHS 111, 999, or your local emergency services.

Regulatory status & governance

Ask Your Cardiologist is positioned as a non-medical device digital service under current UK regulations.

  • Not a medical device
  • Educational and supportive in nature
  • Clinician-reviewed, not automated

MHRA Engagement

Jubi CardioCare has engaged with the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to seek guidance regarding regulatory classification.

Based on the information provided about the platform’s intended purpose — including cardiovascular health information, patient education, awareness, engagement, and non-urgent clinician-mediated interaction — MHRA indicated that the current functionality appears aligned with providing curated reference information and facilitating interaction with healthcare professionals.

MHRA also highlighted that regulatory status depends on intended use and real-world implementation. Future changes in functionality, including automated responses, symptom triage, risk stratification, or clinical decision support features, may alter regulatory requirements and could bring the platform within medical device scope.

Jubi CardioCare will continue to review functionality regularly and maintain alignment with applicable UK digital health and regulatory expectations.

NHS Alignment

Jubi CardioCare has been submitted to the NHS Innovation Service as part of its engagement with the UK healthcare innovation ecosystem.

Support engagement has commenced with research and innovation stakeholders, including the Health Research Authority (HRA), where research classification assessment is under consideration, subject to sponsor-related requirements.

Engagement was also initiated with Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP) to explore innovation support opportunities. Following initial discussions, further communication has been requested through designated channels, and follow-up engagement is ongoing.

Jubi CardioCare continues to pursue opportunities for NHS-aligned evaluation, collaboration, and future pilot deployment pathways.

DTAC Readiness

Jubi CardioCare is progressing towards alignment with the NHS Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) to support future NHS-facing deployment and partnership opportunities.

Current focus areas include:

**Clinical Safety** Establishing a clinical safety approach aligned with NHS standards, including appropriate governance, risk assessment, clinical oversight, and clear safety disclaimers for non-urgent, educational use.

**UK GDPR and Data Protection** Implementing privacy and data protection measures, including transparent privacy notices, consent processes, secure handling of personal information, and ongoing review of UK GDPR compliance requirements.

**Technical Security** Strengthening cybersecurity and platform security practices, including secure hosting, access controls, encrypted communications, authentication, backup procedures, and vulnerability management.

**Usability and Accessibility** Improving accessibility and user experience to support inclusive use across diverse patient groups, guided by recognised web accessibility principles and usability feedback.

Jubi CardioCare intends to progressively strengthen DTAC readiness as the platform evolves and NHS-aligned opportunities develop.
